Direct Web Solutions is proud to offer wireless networking to our customers, powered by Cambium and Ubiquiti Networks. Point-to-Point (P2P) networks allow customers to connect two or more locations with a dedicated high-speed link, typically at long distances where physical cabling is impractical or costly. These networks operate by transmitting data wirelessly between fixed points using microwave, millimetre-wave, or radio frequency technology.

P2P Networks are most often deployed for:

  1. Connecting Buildings or Remote Offices: Ever wanted WiFi in your shop, but didn't want to run cabling or pay for a second service? P2P Networking allows you to connect buildings on your yard or remote offices together using dishes and line-of-sight technology. With the technology offered by these services, you can beam internet up to 1GBps to buildings as far as 200km away.
  2. Rural or Remote Internet Access: Provide internet connectivity to remote or rural areas where traditional infrastructure is limited, using towers or antennas to deliver internet service to vast areas. These systems are usually Point-2-Multi-Point (P2MP) which allows a single panel to feed multiple users. Our partners over at Omni Wireless are using this type of network to beam internet service to rural Swift Current and the Herbert areas. We have taken advantage of these types of networks in the past to provide internet access to customers around small towns such as Hazlet where the town has fibre access but the surrounding areas have nothing. This is also how services like Xplore operate.
  3. Backhaul for Cellular Networks: Internet service providers and cellular providers alike utilize wireless backhaul dishes to get service from remote locations, such as valleys, forest areas, and river hills, back to their dedicated infrastructure and fibre connections. These wireless dishes allow to support connections where running networking lines is unfeasible and cost prohibitive. Major communications providers such as Rogers and SaskTel rely on this type of hardware to operate in Saskatchewan where the population density makes it otherwise impracticable to build their networks.
  4. Security Systems: One of the biggest use cases we design and develop wireless networking for is Security Systems. Using a P2P link to attach your shops, bin yard, house, and more allows for remote viewing and alarms in distant locations and saves heavily on equipment costs where multiple recording devices are not required. Using this type of network, you can attach cameras from your shop, barn, bin yard, and more, and view and record directly from the comfort of your couch — saving you time and money in the long run.
